Maja shrugs off bashers, thanks Gerald for defending her

MANILA, Philippines - “God bless!”

Thus said Maja Salvador when asked what she’d want to tell her online bashers in an interview with Philstar.com during the press conference for tablet Coby Kyros on Thursday, September 5.

The Kapamilya actress said she recently posted a message on the mobile photo sharing service Instagram thanking fans for their support against online bashers. But Maja said she has learned to dismiss any negative comments about her posted on social media.

“Opinyon nila yun, kailangan mo silang respetuhin. Kahit na pagsabihin mo sila o patulan mo sila, hindi naman sila titigil eh,” Maja said of her bashers. “Siguro hindi magiging kumpleto araw nila kung di sila mag-bash so ibigay mo na lang yun sa kanila.”

The 24-year-old actress added, “Kahit may nagba-bash, hindi pa rin hihinto yung araw ko.”

Not a love team

Her boyfriend Gerald Anderson also defended Maja against bashers in a previous interview with the press. “Siyempre, umabot din sa point na parang sumusobra rin, di ba? Hindi porke’t artista kami, parang wala lang sa amin pag may nagba-bash. Siyempre, may feelings din kami. Tao pa rin kami,” he said.

Her reaction over Gerald’s defense for her? “Thank you,” Maja said.

Like Gerald, Maja would rather keep the details of her relationship closed to the public. “Hindi naman po kami love team so kung pwede lang maging private yung sa relationship namin, yun ang pipiliin namin,” the actress said.

Maja would occasionally post photos of or message about Gerald on her social media accounts such as Instagram and Twitter, but she imposes limitations as to what she shares. “Kasi kami, hindi kami magkatrabaho so ang hirap kung palagi kaming pag-uusap,” she said.

“Hangga’t maaari, kung pwedeng quiet lang sa relationship. Minsan magshashare ka pero hindi yung lagi,” she added.

Best moments

The actress has over 1.6 million followers on Twitter and more than half a million followers on Instagram — and she’s even endorsing the Coby Kyros tablet since last year. Is she active on social media?

“Aaminin ko na dati, sobrang adik ako sa Twitter and Instagram. Hindi naman sa hindi ako active, lagi pa rin akong nagche-check, lagi pa rin akong online. It’s important for me as an actress and as an endorser. But gusto ko, kahit papaano, laging may sense yung iti-tweet ko and ishe-share ko,” she said.

“Kasi, baka mamaya, kung walang kwenta yung ipo-post ko, baka mairita lang sa akin yung mga nagfofollow sa akin,” Maja quipped.

Still, the “Ina, Kapatid, Anak” star said she uses social media to share her “best moments” with her fans, like when she went to London, England and San Francisco, California in the United States recently.

“Kahit nga di ako fashionista, nagiging fashionista ako minsan, uma-outfit of the day,” Maja shared, referring to the popular hashtag (#ootd) on Instagram wherein users post photos of what they are wearing.
