MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines’ rich musical history is the highlight of OPM: Obra Para sa Musika, the graduation exhibit of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) Advanced Class of 2013, as it unveils a select list of songs to be embodied in various interior design settings.
Slated on Oct. 1 to 31, at the third level of Glorietta 3, Ayala Center, Makati City, the exhibit will showcase over 20 exquisitely designed spaces inspired by timeless Original Pilipino Music (OPM) pieces.The songs will be used as inspiration for the different booths in the exhibit to showcase not just different design aesthetics but the richness and diversity of Filipino music.
Among the songs represented in the exhibit are: NoyPi by Bamboo (composed by Aira Cruz, Bamboo Mañalac, Vic Mercado and Nathan Azarcon); Saan Ka Man Naroroon by Ric Manrique Jr. (composed by Levi Celerio, Restie Umali); Nicanor Abelardo’s Bituing Marikit; Sa Ugoy ng Duyan by Lea Salonga (composed by Levi Celerio and Lucio San Pedro); Bongga Ka Day by Hotdog (composed by Dennis Garcia and Rene Garcia); Kanlungan by Noel Cabangon (composed by Romeo Dongeto); Katawan by Hagibis (composed by Mike Hanopol); Mamang Sorbetero by Celeste Legaspi (composed by Jose Mari Chan and Gryk Ortaleza); Awitin Mo by VST & Co. (composed by Joey de Leon and Vic Sotto); Growing Up by Gary Valenciano (composed by Odellavania Quesada); and Awit ng Barkada by Apo Hiking Society (composed by Danny Javier).
Also to be showcased are Sa ‘Yo Lamang (composed by Manuel Francisco, S.J.); Umagang Kay Ganda by Tilly Romero and Ray-Ann Fuentes (composed by Butch Monserrat, Anabelle Lee, Babes Conde and Gryk Ortaleza); Kumukuti-kutitap by Ryan Cayabyab (composed by Joey Reyes and Ryan Cayabyab); Eraserheads’ Ang Huling El Bimbo (composed by Ely Buendia); Himala by Rivermaya (composed by Rico Blanco); Mr. Suave by Parokya ni Edgar (composed by Buhawi Meneses); Hari ng Sablay by Sugarfree (composed by Ebe Dancel); Kaleidoscope World by Francis M.; New Tattoo by Urbandub (composed by John de Jesus Dinopol, John Dean Mendoza and Rose Mary Lim); and Narda by Kamikazee (composed by Allan Balbero Burdeos, Ferdinand Jay Contreras, Jason Astete, Jose Ma. Luis Linao and Led Zeppelin Tuyay).
Marking the 46th anniversary of PSID, and co-presented by Glorietta mall and the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP) and Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), the exhibit aims to marry the interrelated fields of design and music by translating Filipino songs into aesthetically and functionally designed interior spaces.
