MANILA, Philippines - The recently-concluded Dance Fest 2013 was a showcase of talent and creativity of Visayas’ best dance troupes.
Out of the 42 groups from Iloilo, Bacolod and Cebu, six crews were named as grand winners — three each under the open and school categories.
Velocity X and ODE of W.I.T. were declared champions in the Iloilo leg for the open and school categories, respectively, after coming out to battle against second placers Ground Zero and K-Swag Generation, and third placers C.N.C.Iloilo and Kinaadman Dance Crew.
Critical Breakdown and Hili-ugyon Dance Company, on the other hand, danced their way to the top in the Bacolod leg. Critical Breakdown won against Rockafellas and YC Rocks for the open category, while Hili-ugyon Dance Company triumphed over Choi Force Jr. and Kadayaw Dance Troupe for the school category.
In Cebu, the winner in the open category was Type One which battled it out with Kingz Gambit and New Friends.
Getting the title in the school category was BC Dance Troupe. Its competitors were UC D’Cypher Cru and Synergy Juniors.
Mark Herras served as a judge during the grand finals along with Ryza Cenon and Sef Cadayona (for the Iloilo and Bacolod legs). Julian Trono also graced the event.
In Cebu, Jang and Jeongwon of Down To Mars were assigned to evaluate and critic the contestants’ routines, while the other members Yheen, Kenji and Daisuke performed for the audience.
The prizes awarded in the open category were P30,000 cash prize and SM gift certificates for the champion; P10,000 for the first runner-up; and P5,000 for the second runner-up.
Winners in the school category received P20,000 cash prize and SM gift certificates for the champion; P10,000, first runner-up; and P5,000, the second runner-up.
