Jericho Rosales: Proposal to Kim Jones was ‘meant to be’

MANILA, Philippines - Jericho Rosales believes his proposal to Kim Jones was “meant to be.”

In a taped interview with ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “The Buzz” aired Sunday, the Kapamilya actor revealed that his proposal to his TV host girlfriend in the middle of church service of the New Life Christian Church in Alabang last August 4 almost didn’t push through.

Jericho said he asked a friend to arrange the proposal during the church service. However, the church didn’t allow the actor “because it’s a Sunday service.”

However, the friend pulled through at the last minute.

“Yung answered prayer na yun, para sa akin, it was meant to be. Doon ko naramdaman yung kaba,” Jericho told “The Buzz.”

The actor said he asked for permission from Kim’s mother before he proposed.

Jericho also said he started praying about proposing four months ago.

“I said, ‘Lord, ready na ako. When do I propose?’ Kasi tinanong ko sa birthday ko, what do I want for my birthday? And the first thing that came to my mind was I want a wife,” he said.

The 33-year-old actor’s birthday is on September 22.

The couple has yet to decide on the specifics of their wedding, although they’re planning to get married next year.

“For me, I’m really trying my best to stay in shape because I promised her that when I’m 50, I’ll still be fit and strong for her and for our future kids,” Jericho said.

He added: “But wala pa kaming pinag-uusapan na magkakaanak pa kami. Siguro, in two to three years.”

For now, Jericho and Kim are just enjoying the moment.

“I just want to tap my (shoulder) and thank God because desidido ako to have this kind of life, to share my life with someone,” he shared.  “I just want to remind myself that great things are ahead.”

Kim said, “This whole thing, this relationship, for me, is proof that God wants the best for you. I’m so blessed to have him as the person who is gonna be the person with me the whole way.”
