Cofradia, the black girl who becomes fair through the magic of a mysterious candle, is being revived on television (ABS-CBN), with Julia Barretto in the title.
The original Cofradia is Gloria Romero, who starred in a Sampaguita movie in 1953 opposite Ramon Revilla. Cofradia was written by Dominador Ad. Castillo (father of Celso), serialized in Mabuhay Komiks.
The leading man of the TV version of Cofradia might just be Julian Estrada, son of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and Precy Vitug. Julia is the daughter of Marjorie Barretto and Dennis Padilla. — RKC
