Is Matteo Guidicelli afraid of romantic commitments?

It’s been almost a year since Matteo and Kapamilya actress Maja Salvador announced their breakup, yet the actor remains single. Recently, former co-star Jessy Mendiola admitted she and Matteo decided to put their budding relationship on hold, prompting the entertainment media to ask if he’s now scared of romance.

“Hindi naman ako takot. Marami lang akong priorities right now,” Matteo told members of the press in a recent media gathering recently.

The Kapamilya actor said he has a lot on his plate right now, specifically the drama series “Galema” with Andi Eigenmann and the reality show “The Biggest Loser” with Iza Calzado. Matteo will also participate in the upcoming Ironman triathlon.

“I guess it’s really (knowing your) priorities and knowing what’s best,” he added.

But it’s not that he has no time for love; rather, Matteo said he’s currently “not looking for it yet.”

“Hopefully, one day, it will come. God will give it to us. We don’t have to look for it. It will come to us, someday,” he explained.

Why triathlon?

In previous interviews with the press, Matteo has expressed his love for triathlon — especially during the first few months after his breakup with Maja. Already an athlete even before entering show business, Matteo said being a triathlete is “life-changing.”

“It’s very positive for everybody because you’re healthier, makes you think better, makes you feel better. It’s a lifestyle, kumbaga,” he said. “That’s why I wanna spread the word to everybody to have a healthy lifestyle.”

Matteo said they’re set to begin shooting for “Galema” in a few weeks. The show will reunite him with Andi, who he worked with in the 2010 drama series “Agua Bendita.”

“Sobrang sexy niya ngayon, eh. Talagang she’s preparing for the role,” he said of Andi.

“Andi and I are very, very close already, since ‘Agua Bendita.’ We never lost our connection and our contact together,” Matteo added.
