Vice Ganda happy for LGBT support in the PH

MANILA, Philippines -- There’s no doubt the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community is in its tipping point when it comes to support and exposure, especially in local pop culture.

International singer Charice’s coming out as a lesbian and the GMA-7 primetime series “My Husband’s Lover,” for instance, have recently put the LGBT community in the spotlight, while the GMA-7 primetime series.

If there’s one celebrity who’s the happiest because of this development, it’s Vice Ganda.

“Ako yung isa sa pinakamapangahas na bakla na nakikita araw-araw sa telebisyon, naririnig sa radyo, nakikita sa pelikula. Kaya isa ako sa masaya dahil lahat ng bakla makikinabang dyan,” he told members of the press in a recent showbiz event recently.

The Kapamilya comedian added he gives his all-out support to gay singers Charice and Aiza Seguerra. The two will have hold a concert this September.

“Nung nalaman ko na may concert si Aiza at si Charice, sabi ko kailangan andoon ako, kailangan manood ako ng concert na yan,” he said.

Vice is currently on a short break from ABS-CBN’s noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” as he is currently under medication due to a vocal cord problem.

“Nung bumalik ako sa doktor nung isang araw, nakita nila na lumiit yung mga polyps pero andoon pa rin. Kailangan maayos yun through steroids and total voice rest,” he said.

He added, “Nakikita nila na okay naman na, so pag umokay na ang lahat pwede na ako bumalik anytime. Excited na rin nga ako, eh.”

Vice is slated to start shooting for the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” with Maricel Soriano this August.
