In 1958, Maestro Federico Elizalde produced an ‘exciting new kind of musical,’ inspired by George Gershwin’s song Lady, Be Good. The movie, titled — what else — Lady, Be Good starred Leticia Liboon, Rene Antonio, Belle Gonzales and Connie Lopez as the dancer.

Deegar Cinema released Lady, Be Good, directed by Rolando del Mar, with music by Elizalde and his Manila Little Symphony Orchestra. Deegar Cinema produced, among others, Rosa del Rosario’s last movie, May Karapatang Isilang (1952), which had a Spanish version, El Dereche de Nacer. — RKC
