Carly Rae Jepsen coming for show

Singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen, who’s behind the hit song Call Me Maybe, is bringing her Kiss Tour to the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Aug. 7.

Certified quintuple-platinum in Jepsen’s native Canada, Call Me Maybe is also an international sensation, climbing to No.1 on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries while the official video has over 400 million YouTube views. To date, the song has sold more than 10 million singles worldwide to date.

Her follow-up platinum single Good Time, a duet with Owl City, climbed to No. 3 on the Pop Chart, while the video has racked up over 96 million YouTube views. Jepsen released her debut album Kiss in September last year via 604 Records/Schoolboy Records/Interscope Records along with her latest hit single This Kiss. Billboard recently named Jepsen its “Rising Star” at the 2012 Billboard Women In Music Awards, and she won the 2012 American Music Award for Best New Artist.

• Here’s the official statement from Bong R. Osorio, head of the ABS-CBN Integrated Corporate Communications Division on why Got To Believe didn’t premiere last Monday, July 8, as reported:

The management of ABS-CBN is just as excited as the viewing public for the airing of Got To Believe. There is no truth to speculations that the airing was postponed because management was disappointed with the program. In fact, the TV series starring Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo thrilled and impressed the management. In as much as management wants to air it, it has decided to postpone the airing until enough episodes are canned. ABS-CBN firmly believes that Got To Believe will offer a new experience to TV viewers and looks forward to airing it soon.

• Fetched by her boyfriend Richard Gutierrez in Switzerland where she spent more than six months with her parents, Sarah Lahbati slipped quietly back home Thursday night, looking trim. First thing she did yesterday morning was post bail for the libel case GMA Films’ executive Annette Gozon-Abrogar has filed against her.

Richard rushed home from Switzerland three weeks ago purposely to help promote My Lady Boss, her Regal Films movie with Marian Rivera, and rushed back to Switzerland. Sarah’s mom arrived a week ago. Sarah (and Richard) haven’t satisfactorily clarified persistent rumors that Sarah got pregnant and gave birth abroad, despite tell-tale “hints” from those close to them. Two weeks ago, Sarah posted this quotation on her Instagram: The pain that you’ve been feeling can’t compare to the joy that’s coming. Romans 8:18.

• Congratulations to my goddaughter Aila Reyes, daughter of Aster Amoyo, who got a Hyogo Prefecture scholarship (with a 30,000 yen monthly pocket money). After graduation from high school in St. Paul’s College Pasig in March 2008, Aila left for Tokyo where she first studied a two-year language course in KSC International Japanese Language School then moved to Nishinomiya City near Osaka to study at Kwansei Gakuin University where she’s taking up a double course in Business Management and International Studies. She’s graduating in March 2014. While in school, she participated in a lot of activities (including outside of school) — kayak, dance concerts, speech contests, symposiums. Late last year, she led her team in the Marketing Competition Japan 2012 and got the BBC World News Award and The Best Team Promotion Award which was held in Kobe, Japan.
