The Little Singers of Monaco at SM City North and MOA

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - One of the world’s most renowned boys’ choirs, The Little Singers of Monaco is set to serenade local audiences in a series of Philippines performances starting today. The group, under the royal patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco, will make its Philippine debut as part of its 2013 Asian tour.

These include a concert in SM City North EDSA’s Skydome on July 12 at 5 p.m. On Bastille Day, July 14, the group will perform during a mass at the Shrine of Jesus, the Way, The Truth and the Life at the 10:30 a.m. Mass and a concert at SM Mall of Asia at the Atrium at 5 p.m. All performances are free and open to the public.

Known as the “little singing ambassadors of Monaco,” the choir was founded in 1974 under the directorship of Philippe Debat. It, however, traces its roots to the 18th century when the tradition of children’s vocal groups was first established in Monaco. Since its inception, the choir has performed in 35 countries and been featured in 15 albums.

Of the group, Prince Albert says: “The activities of these little ambassadors of Monaco deserve all of my support, and I commend them for their commitment and their career.”

The distinct sound of The Little Singers of Monaco emanates from the smooth blending of angelic voices by its 28 members whose ages range from 10 to 18. The group’s repertoire encompasses works written for children’s or men’s voices by such classical masters as Bach, Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, Mendelssohn and Charpentier, among others.

The group’s Philippine tour is presented by Far Eastern University and SM Supermalls in cooperation with the Manila Pavilion, The Consulate General of the Principality of Monaco, and SinagTala Management for Filipino Performing Artists. DZFE 98.7 FM is the official media partner.
