Nonie Buencamino, et al. in June episodes of DZRH’s Art 2 Art

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Art 2 Art continues its mission of presenting art and culture discussion for all this month.

Hosted by Lisa Macuja and produced by the Manila Broadcasting Company, Art 2 Art airs Sundays from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on DZRH (666 khz on the AM band) and on cable television via RHTV. It can also be viewed simultaneously on the Internet through DZRH Live Streaming at www.dzrh.com.ph.

On June 9, Nonie Buencamino (photo) shares how he got his start in theater and branched out into film and television; the dynamics of having three actors in the family (he is married to theater/film/TV actress Shamaine Centenera and is father to stage talent Delphine Buencamino); and his dream roles, including Macbeth.

On June 16, violinist Alfonso “Coke” Bolipata narrates his journey from being a US-schooled violinist and chamber musician to founder of a community arts venue in Zambales called Casa San Miguel. His participation as an actor in the film Boses, to be shown commercially in July, has strengthened his advocacy for children’s rights and child protection.

On June 23, award-winning writer Dean Francis Alfar explains what speculative fiction is all about. An advocate of the so-called “literature of the fantastic,”  Alfar is the editor of the Philippine Speculative Fiction anthology — now on its eighth volume — which serves as an avenue for writers in this increasingly popular genre.

To cap the month, on June 30, Art 2 Art pays tribute to National Artist Daisy Avellana who passed away last May 12. Fellow National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera, the episode’s resource person, talks about the significant contributions to Philippine art and culture of the woman dubbed as the First Lady of Philippine Theater.
