Awards for honest drivers

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Wanted sa Radyo’s Gawad Katapatan Awards continues to recognize honest drivers who, through their simple acts of kindness, demonstrate some of the best traits of the Filipino people. The Radyo5 program, led by hosts Raffy Tulfo and Niña Taduran recently honored the eighth batch of Gawad Katapatan awardees to the show in recognition of their exceptional behavior.

One of the awardees is former cab driver Gerry Gozon, who found and returned an iPhone 4S that was left in the taxi he was driving. UV Express driver Perry Escamillas found a Samsung Galaxy Note at a terminal in Quezon Ave. This was not the first time Escamillas found something valuable in the area, having found and reported two other items in the past.

Taxi driver Walter Ramos is one of the program’s more notable awardees, having surrendered a passport, a Samsung Galaxy Y, a motorcycle plate and a wallet containing P1,700 cash. He said, he considers Wanted sa Radyo a quick way of finding the items’ true owners. In just seven months, over 80 drivers have become part of Wanted sa Radyo’s Gawad Katapatan Awards.

Wanted sa Radyo airs Mondays to Fridays on Radyo5 92.3 News FM.
