MANILA, Philippines - Nature’s Trail Discovery Run (NTDR) is a three-leg series of trail running race event that was first held in 2012. It was the most successful trail running race event of that year for Pimco Sporting Events with a total of more than 1,000 runners in the entire trilogy from May to November last year. By trail running standard, pulling into the race total participation of such number is considered a blockbuster of a race.
This year, NTDR II Trilogy’s first leg will kick off on June 9 in Tanay, Rizal. The series is compressed within a period of five months from June to November. Second leg is on Sept. 1 and third/final leg on Nov. 24.
For this year, with 5k (for beginners), 10k (for advanced), 21k (for seasoned) and 50k (for masters), NTDR II will be made more competitive and the bar is raised to bring out the best of Filipino and foreign trail runners who will join in the event. New rules are introduced into the race that will refocus the race not so much on the cash prize which only the elite always have the chance of winning but more on the development of the trail runner as an athlete in a new kind of mountain sports that is beginning to be appreciated by more runners. NTDR II, therefore, is more for the development of the sports and the trail runners without taking away the pure fun and the thrill that it brings to the runners.
