PolyEast Records re-releases Bamboo’s No Water No Moon

Bamboo Mañalac is getting ready for his role as judge/mentor on the Philippine version of The Voice

MANILA, Philippines - PolyEast Records is releasing anew Bamboo Mañalac’s debut album No Water No Moon with a brand-new single Carousel, now out in stores.

Carousel, produced and written by Bamboo, features a pulsating and anthemic drumbeat along with haunting vocals that Bamboo is known for. While the song was recorded by Bamboo in Manila, final mastering was done in California by Brad Blackwood at Euphonic Masters as well as the other songs in the album. The song was launched on radio last April 22 and is expected to release its music video soon.

Bamboo said, “It (Carousel) speaks of inspiration and finding oneself by going back. As the refrain starts with ‘remember before…rush hour…’ and that once you do open that door, it’s a hard thing to close. And that ‘home’ for me isn’t a place but it’s me finding meaning in what I do, what drives me to dare, to be confident and to continue to look for that spark. That is home.”

Asked about Carousel’s lyrical wordplay with children singing in the background and chanting, “I’m home,” Bamboo recalled “(It’s) ‘the nursery line’ which brings you back to a special time in your life. For the choruses, I also put into lyric the images and the idea that we’re here to not think of the ‘perfect storybook ending’ but to live and take the present.”

No Water No Moon is Bamboo’s first solo album. It was originally released in 2011 and crept to Gold record status last February. One of the most anticipated albums of 2011, No Water No Moon produced the singles Questions, Spin, Ikot ng Mundo and In This Life. The same album gave Bamboo another taste of victory as he won at the 25th Awit Awards for Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist for his song Questions.

Going from a band frontman to a solo act is no easy feat. In his solo work, Bamboo showed ambitious resolve to conjure up a new and eclectic set. Teaming up with some of the top musicians in the music industry like Ria Osorio, Kakoy Legaspi, Jun Jun Regalado, Bong Gonzales and Simon Tan, Bamboo is now a regular performer on ABS-CBN’s ASAP and is gearing up for his role as a mentor/judge in the forthcoming Philippine version of The Voice. Globe Telecom also introduced Bamboo as the ambassador of Tattoo@Home early this year.

Bamboo will also embark on a promo tour for the repackaged version of No Water No Moon. Promo dates will be announced soon.
