KBP Golden Dove awards for NEWS5’s Cruz-Valdez & Cosim

MANILA, Philippines -  NEWS5 chief Luchi Cruz-Valdez and seasoned anchor Cheryl Cosim (photo) were recognized by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) during the recent 21st Golden Dove Awards. Cruz-Valdez received the Best Radio Public Service Program Host award, while Cosim brought home the Best TV Newscaster award for her work in AKSYON. Held at the Star City Complex in Pasay City, the ceremony brought together the biggest and most celebrated names in the Philippine broadcasting industry.

Cruz-Valdez is one of the most awarded journalists in the country. She had also received the World Achiever Award in Documentary at the eighth International Center for Communication Studies (ICCS) media convention in 2012. With over two decades in journalism, the NEWS5 chief has bagged three silver and three bronze medals for Best Documentary from the prestigious New York Film and Television Festival, as well as the Titus Brandasma Award for Excellenge in Broadcast Journalism and the 2001 Brodkaster of the Year Award also from the KBP.

AKSYON anchor Cosim has over 15 years of experience in broadcasting and has also been awarded Best Public Service Show host by the KBP in 2008. She is an ambassador of PLAN International, a non-profit that focuses on alleviating child poverty.

Every year, the KBP’s Golden Dove Awards recognizes the most outstanding broadcast programs professionals and programs via an independent jury of representatives from different sectors.
