MANILA, Philippines - Known for his amazing hip-hop moves at the young age of seven when he won the SCQ Kids contest on ABS-CBN, Bugoy Cariño (photo) makes another feat by winning his first Best Supporting Actor award at the recent ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) for Alagwa. Bugoy played the role of nine-year-old Brian, a kidnapped victim and became part of a human-trafficking syndicate. “Sobrang saya ko po kasi first time ko po manalo ng ganitong award and international pa. Kalaban ko pa international stars din po.â€
Bugoy recalls his experience in doing the film, which was directed by Ian Loreños. “Sobrang nag-handa po kami. Tinulungan po ako ni Kuya Echo (Jericho Rosales) mag-focus.â€
Bugoy also won the Best Child Performer of the Year award at the 29th PMPC Star Awards for the same film.
Bugoy will receive his AIFFA Best Supporting Actor award today in ASAP 18.
