Hilarious reactions meet 'Finding Dory' announcement

Camille Diola - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Immediately after Disney Pixar through American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres announced Tuesday night that a new full length animated feature Finding Dory will be released in 2015, fans sent it to the top of trending lists around the world and created amusing memes to express their excitement.

DeGeneres, who voices the forgetful Blue Tang fish in the immensely successful Finding Nemo in 2003, will star again as Dory but this time in a title role. (See related story: Disney-Pixar's 'Finding Dory' dives into theaters Nov 25, 2015)

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time ... But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It's got a lot of heart, it's really funny, and the best part is it's got a lot more Dory.” DeGeneres said in the show.

News of the future release of Dory, however, was not immediately picked up by some Filipino users who at first thought it was yet another false rumor spreading online. (See related story:  Filipinos fall for 'Toy Story 4' online hoax)

But as soon as online newspapers confirmed that the announcement was not just a hoax, local netizens joined the charged up online crowd to reminisce the days when Finding Nemo was the talk of the town ten years ago.

In the first movie, Dory speaks "whale" and constantly forgets an event that happened just a minute ago. The memes posted on Twitter are just as hilarious as her memorable antics. Here are a few of the best:
