Carmen Rosales biography launched

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - From Up There, Carmen Rosales, fondly remembered as “The Queen of Gays,” must have been smiling while her long-delayed biography was launched yesterday afternoon at the Silangan Hall of the CCP Little Theater.

The book, titled A Tribute to the Movie Queen CARMEN ROSALES Ang Tangi Kong Pag-Ibig, was written by staunch Carmen supporter/defender and close friend Manny B. Fernandez who came home with his wife Aida from the US purposely for that. Editor is Ronald K. Constantino and publisher is STAR columnist (Remember When?) Danny Lirio Dolor who sang hosannas to Carmen (who died almost a recluse in 1991) in his welcome speech and invited the guests to a screening of Ang Tangi Kong Pag-Ibig, Carmen’s iconic movie with Rogelio de la Rosa.

At P700 per copy, the book is a collectors’ item, complete with colorful accounts of Carmen’s star turns and pictures of her unparalleled reign as movie queen. A “must-buy” for lovers of Philippines Cinema.
