Lovi is in-demand drama actress

MANILA, Philippines - Lovi Poe is currently enjoying the success of her solo starrer on GMA 7’s Yesterday’s Bride, which has been consistently at the top of the ratings since it began airing last October. Now on its final week, Lovi has this to say: “I’m overwhelmed by the viewers’ acceptance of the show, at kung paano nila nasubaybayan ang love story ni Andrea at Justin. It was also my first time to do a conventional soap and play a martyr na inaapi,” admits Lovi, who is known for playing strong, offbeat portrayals in the past.

Lovi is also busy finishing a romantic love story titled The Bride and the Lover with Jennylyn Mercado and opposite Paulo Avelino.

In the film, slated to be shown this April, Lovi plays Vivien, a jilted bride and seeks revenge on her former lover Paulo and his paramour, Jennylyn, who happens to be her bridesmaid. Lovi is also elated at her most recent nomination for Best Actress in the forthcoming Golden Screen Awards for TV. This was for her performance in Legacy, Lovi’s teleserye last year. Two years ago, Lovi won the Golden Screen Award for Best Actress, for her performance in Mayohan.

Meanwhile, Lovi, who just celebrated her birthday recently on GMA 7’s Party Pilipinas, is busy promoting the final week of Yesterday’s Bride. “I will really miss the show,” she says.
