Tales of iconic Filipinos on TFC

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of the 27th anniversary of the People Power Revolution or EDSA Revolution, The Filipino Channel (TFC) dramatizes the biographies of iconic figures in Philippine political history in the sub-titled version of the longest-running drama program, MMK Classics.

Last Feb. 2, MMK Classics retold the story of former Sen. Rene Cayetano, more popularly known as Kampañero. In the episode dubbed Upuan, Ronaldo Valdez showed how the late. Sen. Cayetano managed to win the most celebrated court cases of his time but lost the biggest battle of his life — his struggle against Hepatitis B.  John Lloyd Cruz portrayed Cayetano’s son Lino, who also directed the stirring episode.

In a two-part episode (Feb. 9 and Feb. 16), MMK Classics dramatizes the story of one of the most historical couples of Filipino history — that of former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino and former Pres. Corazon “Cory” Aquino. In the episode titled Kalapati, Piolo Pascual and Bea Alonzo portray the well-loved couple who each made a mark in political history with their fight against a dictatorial regime in the hopes of attaining genuine freedom for the country.

On Feb. 23, Moreen Guese portrays Fatima Soriano, a blind girl who has become popular over Philippine radio airwaves because of her angelic voice. Joining Moreen in the episode is Snooky Serna.

MMK Classics airs via TFC’s cable and satellite platforms on Feb. 9, 16 and 23 Sydney, Tokyo, Riyadh and Milan time and Feb. 10, 17 and 24 Pacific time. TFC can also be viewed via the video-on-demand and official online service TFC.tv.
