GMA afternoon block tops polls

MANILA, Philippines - GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime block continues to dominate TV ratings with the success of its drama programs. Consistent with the block’s trailblazing efforts, GMA Afternoon Prime continues to be the “Cradle of GMA Stars” where most of the network’s homegrown talents are molded and honed into becoming Philippine drama’s next big stars.

The Kapuso afternoon shows remain strong in the TV ratings game since 2007 not only in viewer rich Urban Luzon but also in Mega Manila, according to data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. 

After conquering Mega Manila and Urban Luzon, in 2011, GMA Afternoon Prime ruled NUTAM with 39.6 percent household audience.

The programs Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin, The Good Daughter, Broken Vow, Hiram na Puso, Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka, Faithfully, Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa, Yesterday’s Bride, Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga and Magdalena became the most watched afternoon drama programs nationwide.

Based on NUTAM TV Households Data from January to partial December 2012 (available data up to Dec. 7, Dec. 2 to 7 based on overnight readings), GMA’s Afternoon Prime block posted a dominating 42.2 percent household audience.

For the same period in Urban Luzon, GMA’s Afternoon Prime block scored 46.2 percent while in Mega Manila the programs posted 46.8 percent.

Yesterday’s Bride, tclearly edged out competition.

Based on NUTAM data, Sana ay Ikaw na Nga scored 15.8 percent.

For the period Oct. 8 to Dec. 7 (Dec 2 to 7 data based on overnight ratings), Magdalena posted a 13.7 percent nationwide

GMA’s Afternoon Prime programs air weekdays from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
