It’s final: Regine Velasquez’s abortive Silver concert last Nov. 16 at the MOA Arena has been reset for Jan. 5, 2013.
“One more rehearsal and everything is okay already,” Regine confirmed at a presscon the other day.
Everything will be almost the same, with Jaya added to the roster of guests who also include Rachelle Ann Go and La Diva, but minus Michael V. who is in the US. Gloc 9 will replace KC Montero who, like Lani Misalucha, can’t make it this time.
“I will still fly,” assured Regine who swung onto the stage suspended in the air, but this time wearing another gown. “I won ‘t be wearing the one that I already did. I have several more gowns that I wasn’t able to wear during that show and more songs that I wasn’t able to sing.”
Portions of the first show will be spliced into the video of the new one that will be aired as a TV special on GMA end of January, especially those showing Regine struggling to finish a song while in tears — for that dramatic effect, you know.
The first show was cut short because Regine, who was then suffering from viral infection, lost her voice. She did try — in vain! — to go on with the show but she just could not.
“I was so touched by the sympathy that I got not only from those who were at the MOA Arena but from all quarters,” said Regine. “That’s how I realized how much my fans, and many other people, love me.”
Regine is careful so as not to suffer a relapse. Her speaking voice is still a bit hoarse but she said that her singing voice is okay now. “Better than before,” she stressed.
Still, she avoids anything that’s acidic (fruits, juices, mint, dairy products, etc.) because she’s suffering from acid reflux which is causing her pamamalat (hoarseness). “All I can take is water,” she volunteered.
Today, Regine and her husband Ogie Alcasid and their year-old son Nate are leaving for Australia where they are spending Christmas with Ogie’s ex-wife Michelle van Eimeren and her husband Mark Morrow, and Ogie and Michelle’s daughters Leila and Sarah.
“The last time we had a vacation together was in Singapore,” recalled Regine, “it was bitin. Mga four days lang ‘yon. This time, we will spend a longer time together. I am excited to see them again and so are they. The two bagets (Leila and Sarah) have cleaned the room where we’re staying and they can’t wait to be with Nate again because they know that Nate is starting to walk and to talk.”
It’s summer in Australia. First, Regine and Ogie will stay for two days in Sydney, and then they will go to Robertson which is 30 minutes ride away from Sydney.
“Robertson is where Michelle and her family live, parang probinsya, so we can really relax. Kung medyo mainit sa Sydney, in Robertson it’s cold.”
According to Regine, what’s “big deal” in Australia is Christmas morning, so while Filipinos are partaking of noche buena, “Matutulog lang kami. In the morning, we will greet each other ‘Merry Christmas’ and spend the whole day eating and eating, while opening our gifts.”
Having done advance tapings for her shows (Sarap Diva, Party Pilipinas and H.O.T. TV), Regine can indeed sit back and really relax.
The Alcasids will be back in time to welcome the New Year at home.
