Kris, Vice & Ai-Ai join forces in Sisterakas

MANILA, Philippines - Talk about art contradicting life.

While most movies are usually touted as “art imitating life,” Star Cinema and Viva Films’ 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, Sisterakas presents the opposite. Directed by Wenn Deramas, Sisterakas stars Philippine entertainment’s undisputed “queens” — Kris Aquino (“Queen of All Media”), Vice Ganda (“Phenomenal Box-Office Star”) and Ai-Ai delas Alas (“Comedy Concert Queen”).

The three are “friendship” in real life. Kris and Vice treat each other like “soul sisters.” Even Vice and Ai-Ai had differences perceived to have been caused by professional rivalry, they decided to bridge the months-long gap between them on national television. All’s well that ends well.

Ai-Ai and Kris, meanwhile, have been friends for ages. In fact, they are the ones who popularized the word “friendship” to refer to a unique kind of sisterhood.

So how will they act if pitted against one another in Sisterakas, their first movie together?

The encounter spells R-I-O-T!

“This is the mother of all comedies,” said direk Wenn whose films are all certified moneymakers. “It’s an event.”

So it is.

The real-life friends have turned reel-life mortal enemies. In the story, Vice plays Bernice, a super successful “Lord of the Apparels Industry” who is determined to make miserable the lives of his closest competitors — Ai-Ai as Vice’s hard-working half-sister Detty whose family refused to help Bernice’s family when they were poor; and Kris as Roselle, Bernice’s equally brilliant and talented yet eccentric business arch-nemesis.

In her effort to secure her throne, Bernice is forced against her will to hire Detty as his 75th assistant, until things get out of hand when Detty becomes Roselle’s employee.

As if throwing the three into a boiling point isn’t enough, the mess gets even messier with Daniel Padilla as Bernice’s godson Angelo and Kathryn Bernardo as Detty’s daughter come into the scene.

Also in the cast is Xyriel Manabat.

“Sisterakas will surely make Christmas merrier,” said direk Wenn who has directed both Vice and Ai-Ai in several blockbusters. “Be ready to laugh as loud as, if not louder than the firecrackers on New Year’s Eve.”
