Alex, Mara top winners in Cinema One Awards

MANILA, Philippines - Alex Vincent Medina and Mara Lopez won Best Actor and Best Actress respectively, both for Palitan, at the Cinema One Originals Awards held the other night.

Peque Gallaga was named Philippine Cinema’s Most Celebrated Filmmaker.

The other winners are:

• Best Picture: Pascalina

• Best Director: Kevin Dayrit (Catnip)

• Audience Choice Award: Melodrama Negra

• Jury Prize: Ang Paglalakbay ng Bituin sa Gabing Madilim

• Best Supporting Actor: Nicholas Varela (Aberya)

• Best Supporting Actress: Ria Garcia (Melodrama Negra)

• Best Screenplay: Kevin Dayrit (Catnip)

• Best Editing: Kevin Dayrit (Catnip)

• Best Production Design: Michael Espanol (Mariposa sa Hawla ng Gabi)

• Best Cinematography: Danilo Salas III (Anak Araw)

• Best Sound: Mickey Macachor (Aberya)

• Best Music: Join the Club, Circa, Rugis and Kevin Dayrit (Catnip)
