Kuya Germs’ Walk of Fame (Year 7) honorees

MANILA, Philippines - Last Saturday afternoon, Dec. 1, Master Showman German “Kuya Germs” Moreno enshrined the 26 honorees of Walk of Fame (Year 7), his pet project, in Eastwood, Quezon City. The affair was hosted by John Nite, Jak Roberto and Renz (of Kuya Germs’ late Saturday night show Walang Tulugan).

Here’s the Honor Roll:

• Dead Stars — Posthumous: Directors Marilou Diaz-Abaya (represented by her son Marc Abaya), Rosa Mia, Leroy Salvador and newscaster Angelo Castro Jr. (represented by his son Diego Castro).

Tempo’s Ronald Constantino noted that Marilou is also a mentor to aspiring filmmakers, while Leroy, Rosa and Angelo also acted in the movies. Leroy, who also produced films and TV shows, was Asia’s Best Supporting Actor for Biyaya ng Lupa (1959).

• Carlo J. Caparas, director and novelist, billed Komiks King.

• Ricky Reyes, beauty czar and civic-charity worker.

• Al Quinn, television director and choreographer.

• Lucy Torres-Gomez, TV host and congresswoman (Ormoc).

• Anthony Castelo, singer and actor.

• Lani Misalucha, singer who made a name in Las Vegas.

• Ricky Lo, TV host and entertainment editor/columnist of The Philippine STAR.

• Arnold Clavio, TV newscaster/host.

• Actors — As expected the list of honorees is dominated by actors, the youngest of whom is Bea Alonzo.

• The other actors: Amy Austria, Rio Locsin, Nova Villa, Ronaldo Valdez, Jean Garcia, Alfred Vargas, Ara Mina, Jessa Zaragoza, Roderick Paulate, ER Ejercito, Gretchen Barretto, Pops Fernandez and Dennis Trillo.

Ronald also pointed out that Roderick and Alfred are Quezon City councilors, while ER is Laguna governor. Pops and Jessa are also singers.

Kuya Germs is spending his own money on the project inspired by a similar tribute in Hollywood.

Others already on the Walk of Fame are Gloria Romero, Nida Blanca, Luis Gonzales, Nora Aunor, Christopher de Leon, Vilma Santos, Tirso Cruz III, Leopoldo Salcedo, Rogelio de la Rosa and Pancho Magalona.
