Who is your favorite Disney hero or Disney princess?
My favorite Disney Princess changes through time. When I was a little girl, it was Cinderella. I loved her glass slippers and her powder blue ballgown. Then it became Snow White. When I was in college, it was Ariel. Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete? Oh, I loved that song.
There was a time when I also liked Pocahontas because she was a nature lover. But I know every rock and tree and creature, has a life, has a spirit, has a name.
Right now, it’s Belle for me. Beautiful Belle in her golden yellow ballgown. Tale as old as time.
When my daughter Anya turned a year old, our party theme for her was The Little Mermaid. It was a swimming party. She was all decked out in a mermaid costume. Last year, when she turned six, she wore a Belle costume. Now at seven, Anya’s current favorite Disney princess is Meredia (Brave).
Because she is brave, pretty, strong and loves her mom. Awww.
I asked my fellow celebrity moms who their children’s favorite Disney heroes or princesses are, and I had a ball asking them.
Vina Morales: “Oh my! Ceana loves all of them. She knows all their names and their stories. Every trip I have outside the country, I have to make sure to buy her a present — all princess stuff just like this last trip of mine. She loves all of them because they look so pretty and lovely with their dresses. Ceana loves clothes, bags and shoes. She chooses her clothes and shoes everytime she leaves the house, lagot si Mommy, gotta save money!”
Chiqui Roa-Puno on daughter Sabrina, five years old:
“Belle... she has dark curly hair just like me. Also because she is kind, brave, helpful and beautiful. And smart because she reads a lot.”
Amy Perez on three-year-old son Kyle: “Kyle likes Buzz and Woody of Toy Story. He likes the strong quality of Buzz and the leadership of Woody. Plus, I think yung love and care of Woody sa other toys.”
Cheska Garcia-Kramer: “Three-year-old Kendra’s favorite Disney princess is Aurora because she is beautiful and loves her dress.”
Nikki Valdez on four year-old daughter Olivia: “Olivia’s fave Disney princess is Sleeping Beauty’s Aurora. She loves Aurora’s long blonde hair and pink gown.”
Jodi Sta. Maria, who is mother to Thirdy: “Each Disney hero and princess has his and her own beauty and strength that endear them to kids and young-at-heart adults like us.”
It’s been a tradition to bring my kids to the Disney on Ice show each Yuletide season here in the Philippines. What is a Filipino Christmas without a Disney on Ice show?
Just as staple as the giant Christmas Tree at the Araneta Center is the mesmerizing annual Disney on Ice show at the Big Dome. This year, Disney on Ice presents Princesses and Heroes, where not one, but eight Disney Princesses wishes are fulfilled with the help of their devoted princes! Yes, Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Tiana and their respective handsome princes unravel their inspiring stories through artistic skating and graceful acrobatics and prove once more that wishes come true for those who believe.
A sense of adventure thrills the audiences as they are transported from one story to the next. Join Ariel as she yearns to explore the world above the waves and Prince Eric breaks Ursula’s spell to reclaim his true love. Discover a whole new world with Jasmine and Aladdin as they involve the royal guards into a wild, high-speed marketplace chase! You’ll be at the edge of your seat as Prince Eric and his sailors perform an action-packed Fathoms Below production number with high-flying jumps, daring acrobatics and spectacular stunts performed by Russian circus performers. Be awed as the dreams of Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Rapunzel and Tiana all come true!
Among the other highlights of the show are five production numbers from The Little Mermaid, Fathoms Below, Daughters of Triton, Under the Sea , Kiss the Girl and Part of Your World, where Ariel dreams are unlocked from under the sea and in one magical moment, she finds happiness in an exploration above the waves.
Apart from Ariel, Princesses and Heroes also features Princess Tiana in Almost There and Tiana with Princess Naveen in Down in New Orleans from the The Princess and the Frog. Disney’s newest princess from Tangled, Rapunzel also takes to the ice with dashing Flynn Rider in the production number When At Last I See The Light, representing her quest to see the floating lanterns.
These and more exciting ice-spectacular numbers are in store for Filipino audiences who will troop to the Smart Araneta Coliseum for Disney on Ice presents Princesses and Heroes. For details, log on to www.ticketnet.com.ph or call 911-5555.
