Will heaven’s gate open for you?

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

You want to go to heaven when you die, don’t you?

Is heaven, as the wise men claim, a cool place, and hell a burning-hot one?

Will you be reborn (life after life) or will you, heaven forbid, burn in that burning-hot place?

But first, what’s your idea of heaven?

Maybe these celebrities can help us have a little glimpse of heaven:

MVP: Well, man is slowly beginning to understand the universe…or universes (“multi-universe”)…its origin and possible end-state. I suspect that this would influence (or even change) our view of what heaven was, and may be like. Two things though: 1) It isn’t a place, in the spatial three-dimensional sense that man is familiar with, and 2) As we gradually understand our world, it simply enhances the belief that God truly exists.

Vilma Santos: Heaven is eternal life with our Creator.

Jamie Rivera: As a child, I was taught that when good people die, they go to heaven and bad people go to hell, and I still believe in that. But heaven now, for me, is not just that. Heaven, for me, is knowing that you are in the presence of God because you were able to live a life according to His will and purpose.

Charo Santos-Concio: Heaven is a place of absolute joy and peace!

Eddie Garcia: Heaven is right here on earth. When everything goes well according to plan, you are in heaven. But if everything goes wrong, that’s hell!

Basil Valdez: Heaven is a place where believers’ souls will eventually go as promised by The Lord God Almighty, a place where perfect love and eternal happiness reign in the midst of all angels and saints.

Chris Tiu: Having family and friends with angels surrounding you. Eternal happiness.

Senatoriable (again) Migz Zubiri: Being a prayerful Catholic, I believe that it will be a place of peace and solace, a place of calmness and beauty, where no soul will be above any other and no soul will be judged by status or class; a place where Jesus will be walking amongst us and teaching us about eternal love and His Holy Mother showering us with her love. Truly a place of eternal happiness and contentment.

Jon Santos: My closest description of heaven…I guess it’s state of peace…and love…no wants, no needs, only freedom from discontent. Once in a while, I think I get a glimpse of that here on earth, pero tsamba lang, fleeting.

Cesar Montano: Heaven is the faith that you have made in your heart and in your mind, where you dwell right now.

Julius Babao: There is Heaven as there is a God. It is a place where love, happiness and peace are eternal. But in order to enter heaven, we must exhaust all goodness in this world. Jesus said, “It is easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” I believe Him.

Gloria Diaz: Heaven is clean, relaxed and good company, healthy and no problem, maybe a couple of angels flying about. But I heard that you don’t remember friends or relatives when you get to heaven.

Kuh Ledesma: Heaven is the place where our holy God dwells and the place reserved for those who have received Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Mike Enriquez: Heaven? No sorrow. No suffering. No hunger. No poverty. No bad times. No bad things. No bad people. Heaven!

Joel Lamangan: Heaven is where love is in abundance! Heaven is where love is the be-all and end-all of everything! Heaven is where love is the reason for all existence!

Raffy Tulfo: All of us will go to heaven when we die. It’s the place where all our pain and suffering stop from earthly hell that we live today.

Bo Cerrudo: Heaven is simply a state of mind that is in peace. It is HERE, it is NOW and will always be.

Shalani Soledad-Romulo: When people are more caring and more compassionate towards others, and don’t just think of themselves. That would be heaven.

Senatoriable (again!) Dick Gordon: “O, my God, teach me to be generous to serve you as you deserve to be served, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do thy will.” —St. Ignatius of Loyola. Living these precepts are my definition of heaven on earth.

Here are “Bible Scriptures Describing Heaven,” courtesy of Kuh Ledesma who did a research for Funfare:

• Matthew 18:10 — See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

• Revelation 21:4 — He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.

• Philippians 3:20-21 — But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

• John 3:16 — For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

• John 14:6 — Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

• Acts 4:12 — And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

How Do You Get To Heaven (from an article titled “Signs of Second Coming of Jesus Christ”):

• Admit that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior (Rom 6:23)

• Abandon self-effort and realize that you can not be saved by your works or your own efforts (Acts 16:31)

• Accept freely Christ’s payment for your sins, required of the Father (John 3:16)

• Acknowledge Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior (Acts 4:12)
