MANILA, Philippines - Antonio “Tony” Tuviera, the man behind the long-running noontime show Eat, Bulaga! and CEO of Television and Production Exponents, Inc. (TAPE), will be honored with the Galing Pinoy Franchise Excellence award for creating the first international franchise of a Filipino show, a milestone for Philippine franchises.
Tuviera was awarded at the opening ceremonies of the 11th Filipino Franchise Show dubbed Galing ng Pinoy organized by the Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI) yesterday at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
Indonesian network Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) obtained a franchise of Eat, Bulaga! (EB), which premiered in Indonesia in July. Just like the original EB, the Indonesian version is filled with entertainment, games, prizes and inspiration. Segments were patterned after the local version, such as Indonesia Pintar (Pinoy Henyo), Juan For All, All For Juan, Bolagaan and Karaoke Stud. One of the original hosts, Bossing Vic Sotto, also has his Indonesian counterpart: Uya Kuya, who is called “Boss Uya.” There have been reported talks with other Asian countries to have their own version of the show.
During the event, EB did a mini show while Chef Boy Logro of Kusina Master will be featured in Lots’A Pizza’s Celeb Chef on Oct. 14 of the franchise show at 3 p.m.
Now on its 11th year, the AFFI show is expected to generate at least 30,000 visitors from at least 300 exhibitors, the three-day show will have unlimited opportunities in franchising from the country’s best in regions.
Aside from the exhibit, the franchise show will provide educational opportunities to current franchisees to further their skills in entrepreneurship via seminars, workshops, trainings and demonstrations.
