MBC nat'l choral tilt holds 2012 auditions

MANILA, Philippines - It will be a showdown of the best choirs in the metropolis when the Mega Manila auditions for the 2012 MBC National Choral Competitions unfold at the Star Theater today and tomorrow, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to determine the children’s choirs and outstanding vocal ensembles for the open category which will take part in the competition proper scheduled on Dec. 3 to 7 at the Star Theater. 

A cash prize of P100,000 is at stake for the children’s division winner, while the open category champion chorale will receive P150,000. Special awards for Best Show Choir and Best Original Novelty Arrangement are also up for grabs. The annual event, mounted by Asia’s largest radio network, is setting the stage for an international choral festival to be held in Manila next year, under the auspices of Interkultur, the Germany-based music organization behind the World Choir Games, in cooperation with the Philippine Choral Directors Association.
