MANILA, Philippines - Forty years after Apollo 16 soared into orbit around the moon, Sir Elton John with his massive hit Rocket Man, is set to touch down in the Philippines and take even more giant leaps in the music history.
With a career spanning over five decades, singer-songwriter, performer, music icon Elton is all set to blaze Asia’s concert scene with his unique brand of music. Fresh from a memorable and highly acclaimed performance at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert at the Buckingham Palace, the icon has embarked on a worldwide orbit with his Elton John and Band: 40th anniversary of the Rocket Man Tour.
Rocket Man was one of Elton’s highest-charting songs on record charts. The song remained on top of the UK charts for 13 weeks and in the US Billboard charts for 15 weeks.
Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, Elton’s rise from a pub pianist to one of the top-selling solo artists of all time has been nothing short of monumental. Sir Elton has notched 35 gold and 25 platinum albums as well as 29 consecutive US Top 40 hits. He has sold more than 250 million records worldwide and holds the record for the biggest-selling single of all time, Candle in the Wind ‘97, which sold over 33 million copies. Since his career began in 1969, Elton has played over 3,500 concerts all around the world.
