MANILA, Philippines - A mouth-watering feast for the eyes — that’s what Cosmopolitan magazine’s 2012 Bachelor Bash promised to be. The “boyfriend buffet” paraded 69 of the country’s hottest bachelors in front of an overflowing crowd at the World Trade Center last Tuesday night.
On the menu were Cosmo’s September issue centerfolds, JM de Guzman, Joseph Marco, Mikael Daez, Alden Richards, Markki Stroem, model and Century Tuna superbod winner John Spainhour, John James Uy, hoops stars Anthony and David Semerad and Ian Batherson.
Joined by 59 other hunks, they sizzled on the runway, each boasting perfectly crafted bodies, swoon-worthy smiles and macho confidence to boot.
Hundreds of fans lined up hours before the program started, eager to snag the best spots to watch the action on stage. For many, it was a night to remember — some lucky ladies caught the clothes stripped off by the Cosmo Men as they moved up and down the ramp, while others were just happy to see their favorite models and actors in the flesh.
But for a few, the sixth run of the bash lacked its usual panache — the angel wings and daring moves that made previous Cosmo boyfriend buffets so famous. Worse still, some fans weren’t even able to enter the jam-packed venue, despite having tickets.
Next year, a bigger venue is a must. While this would take away from the intimate — almost ladies’ club — atmosphere of the current setup, at least more Cosmo fans will get to enjoy the show. After all, when it comes to Cosmo, bigger is always better — and that policy shouldn’t be limited to the men who grace its pages.
