A lola's homecoming in Wish Ko Lang

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - In a slum area in Sta. Mesa, Manila, one will find the modest tent that serves as home to Lola Ising and her family. Lola Ising is just one of the many Filipinos who came to Manila from the provinces in hope of finding a better future for their family.

Sadly, life has not been easy for Lola Ising. Years after leaving her hometown in Cebu, Lola Ising found herself living in a tent after a demolition took away her shanty. The old woman turned down an offer from the government to move to a relocation site in Bulacan for lack of livelihood in the said area. Today, Lola Ising is 80 years old but still hard at work — selling balut and doing laundry for neighbors just to earn her keep. After a hard life in the city, Lola Ising wishes nothing but to save enough money for a trip back to the old town in Cebu she once left nearly four decades ago.

Tomorrow afternoon, find out if hope endures for Lola Ising on GMA 7’s Wish Ko Lang with host Vicky Morales.
