Relive the glory of Philippine Cinema via the exhibit of pre-war movie ads circa 1936-1941 (courtesy of art patron Danny Dolor) which opened Friday afternoon at the lobby of the CCP as side attraction to the 2012 Cinemalaya which also opened that same night.
CCP chairman Raul Sunico thanked Dolor in his welcome speech while internationally-acclaimed soprano Rachelle Gerodias sang three songs from yesteryear — Bituing Marikit, Silayan and Ako’y Kampupot.
Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, and Marichu “Manay Ichu” Maceda together with MTRCB chief Grace Poe-Llamanzares and Mila del Sol (the only living pre-war actress) cut the ceremonial ribbon.
Danny said that he started collecting movie memorabilia when he was in high school.
Of the movies on the vintage ads (which Danny is donating to the CCP), sadly only five exist: Tunay Na Ina, Ibong Adarna, Pakiusap, Zamboanga and Giliw Ko. — RKC ( Photos By Ricky Lo)
