Sarah back at Big Dome

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Sarah Geronimo’s (photo) 24th birthday concert, 24/SG, at the Araneta Coliseum last July 7 was the best and the most fabulous of her shows so far. The visuals on the giant screen went Sarah ascended the stage was mind-boggling.

A pair of giant wings that appeared on stage looked like they were attached to a big, beautiful butterfly. The interactive graphics is comparable to Beyoncé’s performance of Run the World at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards.

The fantasy theme Sarah herself chose for the show was something no other local artist has executed so far. Rainbow colored lights adorned the stage.

If you missed Sarah’s concert, you still have another chance to catch the spectacle she prepared for her fans on July 21, also at the Big Dome.

Sarah has reached a new level in her career as a concert artist. In fact, she has earned the right to be called the new Concert Queen.

Besides her singing prowess, Sarah’s dancing skills has improved by leaps and bounds. The outfits Dubai-based designer Furne One created for Sarah made her ooze with sex appeal. Sarah’s mom Divine reportedly disapproved of the outfits. But she relented since Sarah herself wanted to wear the clothes worth a whopping P6M.

After all, as Sarah herself said, at 24, she can already wear those sexy outfits.

Puwede nang maging 25,” she added, laughing, lest the audience think it’s her way of saying she’s all set to have a boyfriend.

Jon Santos as the wicked stepmom appeared on a large screen and granted Sarah’s three wishes: Family, freedom and love. Jon also impersonated Mommy Dionisia, Annabelle Rama, Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos.

Sarah’s dad Delfin had a duet with Sarah and accompanied her on the guitar. Their number, I Will Be Here, brought back memories when Sarah’s dad would accompany her when she joined singing contests as a child.

Fans screamed their lungs out when Gerald Anderson arrived with his sibling. Sarah approached him while the former serenaded her with It Might Be You as fans shrieked with delight. Sarah and Gerald even held hands as they walked together towards the patron section where the former thanked her fans.

Among those who watched the concert were John Lloyd Cruz, Maja Salvador, Rachelle Ann Go, Dr. Vicki Belo with daughter Cristalle Henares and Al Galang, Vicki’s rumored boyfriend.

24/SG is directed by Paul Basinillo with musical direction by Louie Ocampo.
