The mister behind Mister Donut

The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  One can’t help but sound like a laughing hyena while talking to the comedic master and celebrity endorser for Mister Donut, Michael V. Before the interview, we all expected him to be exhausted since he recently arrived from a family vacation abroad and he just finished shooting a commercial for Mister Donut’s new chocoholic line. But needless to say, the room where the dialogue took place was filled with hilarity from all his antics and jokes. It’s no wonder that a brand that focuses on conveying happiness to people chose him as the face for their products.

Michael V. has been endorsing Mister Donut since 2007, and he wholly exemplifies the brand. “I live and breathe Mister Donut! That’s what makes me a perfect endorser!” chuckled Bitoy. “My personality to make people laugh reflects Mister Donut’s intention to provide happiness to Filipinos by offering quality food, coffee and service,” he added.

The latest Mister Donut TV commercial recently introduced their newest line of donuts called The Chocoholic Collection. This was created especially for those who are continuously looking for that much needed chocolate fix. And now, they can satisfy their cravings with delectable variants such as Dutch Choco Crunch, Choco Burst, Choco Butternut and the rest of Mister Donut’s best-selling chocolate products. When Michael V. was asked about this particular special collection, he openly confessed that he couldn’t stop eating them during the shoot. “Ang sarap kasi. It’s not like your ordinary chocolate donut. This is probably the ‘chocolatiest’ collection you can get your hands on and it’s also the most fun.”

Then he went on to describe the gastronomic sensation he felt as he devoured these goodies earlier in the day — which, undoubtedly, got everyone else in the room craving for some as well! “Tamang-tama kasi ang tamis,” the entertainer enthused, describing just one of the attributes of Mister Donut that has endeared customers throughout the years.

Although he has embraced making Filipinos laugh throughout his career, Michael V. said that the real source of his happiness and inspiration are his four wonderful children and his supportive wife. “Pagkatapos ng work, sila ang mundong ginagalawan ko,” he shared.

“The essence of Ngiting Mister Donut is to give happiness to everyone. Even one box given as pasalubong to your loved ones can make them happy,” underscored Michael V., adding that he’s only continuing a tradition during his childhood days when his father used to come home with donuts for him after work.

To show how much he appreciates his family, he usually sets vacations to schedule ample time for bonding and even perform simple gestures like bringing home a box of Mister Donut donuts.

So, what’s next for Michael V.?

He has an array of projects keeping him busy. He recently started co-anchoring Pare and Pare, a comedy musical talk show with fellow comedian and good friend Ogie Alcasid. They also just released a movie derived from their famous segment Boy Pick Up from their hit gag show Bubble Gang.

Truly, Michael V. is the epitome of what a genius comic should be. From giving happiness and delight, to making people smile more, both Michael V. and the brand Mister Donut that he endorses, have the wholehearted intention to excel in these aspects.
