Grand costume picture

REMEMBER WHEN? - The Philippine Star

For its 14th anniversary, LVN came up with a grand costume picture in Ansco Color, Rodrigo de Villa (1952), topbilled by the studio’s most regal loveteam, Mario Montenegro and Delia Razon.

Rodrigo de Villa was shot in two languages, Tagalog and Indonesian, the latter version featuring Indonesian stars led by R. Mochitar and Netty Herawatti, who came to the Philippines to do their scenes.

It was LVN’s first co-production with Indonesia.

The co-stars included Nestor de Villa, Oscar Keese, Jose Vergara, and Carlos Salazar, who was introduced in the movie about a brave and fearless prince (Rodrigo) but remains a ‘slave’ of his love (Jimena).

Rodrigo de Villa was directed by Gregorio Fernandez based on the Liwayway novel by Nemesio E. Caravana. — RKC
