Matteo ready to take the lead

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Matteo Guidicelli has been busy preparing for various sports activities this summer. Just recently, he took part in the Vaseline Xterra Philippines, wherein he competed in the 500m swimming, 30k biking and 5k run. He was hailed second runner-up and one of the Top 10 Xterra Lite winners.

Unknown to many, Matteo, who is a former go-kart racer, is really a sports enthusiast. He is serious about becoming a tri-athlete. The young actor has been part of the Xterra Philippines races since 2010 and has been able to compete in six races. He aims to run in the full Xterra in 2013.

Trained by top tri-athlete Noel Salvador, Matteo also participated in a full triathlon in Bantayan, Cebu last April 8. The race involved a 1.5km swim, a 90km or 60km bike and a 10km or 21km run. He hopes to be able to join the prestigious Ironman race in August and has already registered for the relay.

Matteo has also invited fellow Star Magic artists, including former De La Salle University varsity swimmer Enchong Dee, to join him for the swim category.

By reviving his competitive spirit, Matteo aims to become a good influence on the youth not only through acting, but also by becoming fit and healthy through sports.

Matteo is also all set for his launch as lead of Precious Hearts Romance: Isla, wherein he will be paired with Jessy Mendiola. Expect a bolder, more mature and sexier Matteo in the upcoming soap opera soon on ABS-CBN.
