MANILA, Philippines - Ricky Reyes (photo) once dreamt of building an island paradise for his mother Doña Amada who is a true-blooded Batangueña.
“I met a number of real estate brokers and agents who offered me existing resorts but none of them succeeded in enticing me to buy. One day my lawyer invited me to an 18-hectare fish pond in Barangay Uno, Calatagan, Batangas. Although the place is suitable for the resort I want to give my mother, the owner asked for an exuberant amount for it. So, no sale took place,” Reyes related.
A few years after his lawyer informed that the place was mortgaged by the owner and would be foreclosed by the bank, another meeting was set and presto! The sale was sealed and the land slowly turned into the now famous Golden Sunset Inn Resort and Spa just two-and-a-half-hour travel from Manila.
Today at 10 a.m. on GMA News TV, Life & Style With Gandang Ricky Reyes features the high-class amenities, picnic groves, four modern swimming pools, museum of Calatagan artifacts, four restaurants, bicycle lane, tent square, hydromassage areas, butterfly farm, videoke bar and ballroom dancing club local and foreign tourists take delight in.
For its summer offering, Golden Sunset treats couples to a garden or luau wedding where they can renew vows set in the scenic and serene waters that surround Ricky’s gift of love to his mother.
