MANILA, Philippines - He used to spell his first name with an “h” (as in Jhake) until his manager/godfather/mentor, German “Kuya Germs” Moreno decided to drop the “h” because with it the boy’s full name would end on mata (bad luck).
Now as Jake Vargas (ends on oro, which means gold and therefore good luck), he continues to receive blessings, thanks in great part to Kuya Germs who guides Jake every step of the way.
Like a father to Jake (who lost his mom to cancer late last year), Kuya Germs doesn’t even get any commission for his effort. It’s all a labor of love.
A member of the Kapuso Tween batch, Jake (turning 20 on July 9, who hails from Olongapo City) has never been without a project. He’s in the cast of My Kontrabida Girl topbilled by Rhian Ramos, and in the GMA shows Alice Bungisngis and Her Wonder Walis, Walang Tulugan with Master Showman, Pepito Manaloto and Reel Love Presents: Tween Hearts.
He plays the guitar and sings (with an album to his credit).
His tween image is perfect for BNY which makes it a point “to spot the big fish in an ocean full of new and bright showbiz talents.”
