MANILA, Philippines - As you can see, it’s still a big question mark whether or not Aga Muhlach (photo) will run for congressman in the fourth district of Camarines Sur in next year’s elections, even if he’s often seen going around the district.
STAR reporter Paolo Romero reported that Aga recently registered as a voter at the COMELEC in CamSur, bolstering the rumor that he’s “already laying the groundwork for his candidacy.”
Romero noted that under COMELEC rules, a candidate for a local position must be a resident of the jurisdiction where he or she is seeking an elective post for at least a year before the polls.
“Aga would probably challenge Felix William ‘Wimpy’ Fuentebella,” reported Romero. “Wimpy is the son of Deputy Speaker Arnulfo Fuentebella.”
Aga is close to CamSur Gov. Luis Raymond “LRay” Villafuerte with whom he might join in an alliance. Two years ago, Aga celebrated his birthday at the CamSur Water Sports (Resorts) run by the Villafuertes.
When contacted by Funfare yesterday afternoon, Aga said that he’s still feeling his way around — “Tingin-tingin muna” — and admitted that he has been “doing the rounds.” He was calling from CamSur.
The Muhlachs come from Goa, Camarines Sur, where their ancestral home is reportedly being renovated.
Romero added that Aga has visited the towns of San Jose and Goa, and has recently sponsored a mass wedding in another town.
