MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN and DZMM were once again named as TV Station of the Year and Best AM Station, respectively in the recently-held 10th Gawad Tanglaw (Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw) at the University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA Auditorium in Las Piñas City with the Kapamilya network bagging a total of 23 awards for its TV, radio and cable TV channels.
ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio was also given a special recognition of Gawad Tanglaw sa Sining ng Telebisyon for her contributions in the Philippine television industry.
Emilio Garcia, Coco Martin, Vilma Santos, Gina Pareño, Anita Linda and Cherrie Pie Picache, on the other hand, were among the artists recognized in the roster of Pinaka Kapuri-puring Artista ng Dekada.
In the film categories, Cinema One Original’s Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay won Best Story.
In summary, ABS-CBN bagged a total of 15 awards, including the special award for Charo, while its AM radio station DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 received four awards, ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) got three and Cinema One bagged one.
Earlier this month, the Northwest Samar State University also recognized 10 Kapamilya programs and personalities in the third Northwest Samar State University Students’ Choice Awards for Radio and Television.
Among the winners were Matanglawin for Best Educational Program; Kim Atienza as Best Educational Program Host; ASAP Rocks for Best Variety Show; Gary Valenciano as Best Variety Show Host; Xyriel Manabat as Best Child Star in a Primetime Teleserye; Coco Martin as Best Actor in a Primetime Teleserye; Pilipinas Got Talent for Best Reality Show; Luis Manzano as Best Reality Show Host; The Buzz for Best Showbiz-Oriented Show; and Boy Abunda as Best Showbiz-Oriented Show Host.
ABS-CBN is the most-awarded TV network by the academe as it won more awards in the other students award-giving bodies such as UP Los Baños’ Gandingan Awards and University of Santo Tomas’ USTv Awards earlier this year.
