What motivates Pinoy talents

MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino talent earned the only standing ovation from the judges in the last two weeks of American Idol.

Jessica Sanchez is the only Filipino finalist in this year’s edition of the No. 1 US talent show. She comes after another Filipina, Thia Megia, who made it to the Top 10 in last year’s edition.

These two Filipino talents showcased the natural talent of the Filipino that when sharpened is able to compete on the world stage.

Take a second look at the stage wares of Jessica and you will notice, her movements on stage are almost common on the Philippine stage.

What makes her different is the finesse and style and confidence in her artistry. You conclude nothing but that she is a product of natural gift and professional coaching.

Generally, Filipino talents rely on natural gift in conquering the stage. This has been recognized worldwide as many Filipino bands provide entertainment in top hotels and bars in the world.

They can also be competitive. Look at Lea Salonga, Charice and Arnel Pineda.

Michelle Nikki Junia, the only Filipino trained by America’s most preferred vocal coach, has this to say, “These two Filipino artists got both the best of Filipino and America. They have the natural gift of the Filipino and the motivation and discipline of the west. American artists are always motivated by the objective of making the next performance better than the last. The drive to excellence is strong that nothing is taken to chance. This includes artist’s own development and discipline.”

Nikki has her own music school, STARDEV The Music School, at the second floor of Paragon Plaza, at the corner of EDSA and Reliance St., Mandaluyong City.
