MANILA, Philippines - It’s amazing how Vic Sotto still matches up to the “’papability” factor of much younger male stars. He’s as dashing as ever and has kept his charm inescapably effective. No wonder, issues linking him to young female stars never die out.
What’s even more laudable about Vic is that despite his stature and popularity, thanks to his naturally-flowing talent and wit, his feet remain on the ground — a rare case in the eye-blindingly glitzy world of show business.
Despite the countless issues hurled against him through his more than three decades in the industry, his image as a wholesome and reputable star remained unharmed. Vic also hosts or stars in several top-rating programs in two major networks and is still effective in bringing the buck to the box-office. In fact, his latest film was a top-grosser in the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival. Due to his credibility and immense following, he receives offers left and right for product endorsements ranging from detergents to cough medicines. Vic is the endorser of Solmux, manufactured by leading pharmaceutical company Unilab. Getting him to endorse the brand wasn’t that easy. Vic is conscious and selective of the products he chooses to endorse. He only endorses those that he could trust and have been proven to be effective.
“Sa showbiz kasi, ang katawan ang puhunan mo. It’s important for me that I entrust my health only to those medicines that are reliable. Mahirap magkamali sa aspetong ‘yan,” says Vic. “Hindi pwede sa showbiz yung laging nagkakasakit. Kaya ako, kung nararamdaman ko nang magkakasakit ako, inuunahan ko na.”
Vic has a new campaign informing the public to be wary of some cough medicines that have been found to contain harmful bacteria.
Having endorsed Solmux since 2010, Vic is confident that the product has passed rigorous testing and is manufactured following high standards of quality control, making him sure of both its efficacy and safety.
“As a responsible endorser, my task is not only to convince consumers to patronize the brand I am endorsing but also to encourage them to make sound choices especially when it comes to their health,” explains Vic.
Apart from medicines, Vic needs the soothing relief of a woman’s touch from time to time. So from whom does he receive a dose of it?
“Ahem! Ahem!,” he coughs.
He’ll need another Solmux for that.
