Star Magic artists to watch out for

MANILA, Philippines - Star Magic’s young generation of stars, namely, JM de Guzman, Megan Young, Martin del Rosario, Jessy Mendiola, Enrique Gil, Kathryn Bernardo, Matteo Guidicelli, Julia Montes, Rafael Rosell, Joem Bascon, Empress Schuck, Rayver Cruz, Ejay Falcon and Xian Lim, are still on-the-go and busy juggling their showbiz commitments and endorsement duties this year.

Since his launching soap Mula Sa Puso last year, JM’s career as a lead actor has been on a roll. He has starred in several indie movies (Pintakasi, Rekrut and Babae Sa Septic Tank), had two Maalaala Mo Kaya episodes plus another top-rating teleserye Angelito Batang Ama which is currently airing on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold. He has also started exploring his musical side and has released his self-titled album under Ivory records. He is also part of ASAP’s boy group Boys R Boys. JM also has endorsement duties for Folded & Hung, Faces and Curves clinic and Peps Silvestre Salon.

Megan’s hosting skills haven’t gone unnoticed as ASAP tapped her to become the regular host of ASAP Chill Out Lounge, the show’s online counterpart. She has also started shooting for the Star Cinema movie, The Reunion opposite Xian. Megan continues to do cover shoots for glossy magazines and is also finishing her collegiate studies at the De La Salle College of St. Benilde and is taking up filmmaking. Her most daring cover shoot for Rogue magazine is selling like hot pancakes.

Although busy with his studies at UP Diliman, Martin is raring to work on his newest movie project this summer, The Healing, starring Kim Chiu and the Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos. He is also set to do a reunion teleserye with Andi Eigenmann. Martin also appeared recently on ABS-CBN’s teleserye E-Boy, where he was commended for his performance as the young Ariel Rivera. Martin is the celebrity endorser of Zesto juice drinks, BNY jeans and shirts, and MyPhone.

Jessy may be bidding her character Jackie goodbye as Budoy comes to an end but she will be moving to a bigger screen this summer as she pairs up with Enchong Dee in Star Cinema’s The Reunion. She is also set to do a new teleserye, also with Enchong. The young actress also endorses Bench, Adidas, So Fab shoes, Timex and Bubbatealicious Milk Tea.

Enrique blew everyone away with his moving portrayal of BJ, a boy thrust into a world of deceit by his mother, in ABS-CBN’s top-rater Budoy. His convincing skills as an actor has already earned him another TV project, this time with Kathryn and Daniel Padilla in The Princess and I, which will soon air on the Kapamilya network. He is also one of the lead stars of Star Cinema’s summer offering The Reunion where he will be paired off with Julia. His second team-up with Kathryn titled Princess and I will soon be seen on ABS-CBN. Because of his rising status in showbiz, Enrique has been tapped to endorse Folded & Hung and MyPhone. 

After the success of the teleserye Mara Clara, Kathryn finally embarks on her first solo project, The Princess and I. Kathryn will be playing Mikai, a girl deprived of her royal roots but will eventually discover that living her real identity as a princess is quite hard and challenging. Although she will be busy with her taping schedule (with some scenes to be filmed in Busan), Kathryn will not neglect her endorsement duties for Coca-Cola, Rejoice, Whisper and MyPhone.   

After his movie My Cactus Heart and teleserye My Binondo Girl, Matteo is eager to do out-of-town and out-of-the-country shows, which he has not been able to do during his busy taping schedules. He plans to spend time on his advocacies for Habitat for Humanity and World Vision. Matteo will also do work for his celebrity endorsement projects for SMDC, Swatch watches, Belo Medical Group, Boardwalk apparel and Head and Shoulders.

Gone are her Goin’ Bulilit skit days as she now takes the challenge of the role of the heiress Katarina on the ongoing teleserye Walang Hanggan. Aside from her taping schedule, Julia is also filming the summer movie The Reunion opposite Enrique. Julia is now also a popular celebrity endorser doing campaigns for Bench apparel, Boardwalk, Whisper, MyPhone, Coca-Cola, Eskinol and Rejoice. 

Rafael returns to primetime TV this March as Edson Zaguire in Nang Dahil Sa Pag-ibig. After his successful stint in the hit teleserye 100 Days to Heaven, Rafael hopes viewers will also appreciate and be moved by his new character. The actor is also a surfing enthusiast.

Joem truly displays his versatility as actor in his TV projects. After playing the policeman Cristobal Rivas in Nasaan Ka Elisa?, he now goes back to being a villain in Walang Hanggan. When he has free time, Joem joins the Star Magic Basketball Team’s charity games in various schools and universities around the country. He currently is a celebrity endorser for Guitar shirts and Converse sneakers.

Empress is currently playing the lead Sheryl La Peña in the teleserye Mundo Man ay Magunaw opposite a powerhouse cast. Empress is now also an ASAP regular and is one of BUM Equipment’s lady endorsers.

Still thankful for the high ratings of his last soap Reputasyon, with real-life girlfriend, actress Cristine Reyes, Rayver is now focusing on his singing and dancing skills in ASAP. He also joins his Star Magic Team for invitational basketball games. He is also busy doing endorsement work for Bench clothing, Adidas, Belo Medical Group and The Bar.

His stint as a policeman in the Robin Padilla-starrer Guns and Roses has earned Ejay another soap opera. On Kapamilya Gold’s Mundo Man Ay Magunaw, he plays Niko Matias, a young man torn between the love of two women. Many have noticed how he has matured as an actor with his portrayal in the teleserye. Ejay is also an endorser now for Head and Shoulders, Bench, Joel Cruz Signature Scents and Fashion Exchange.

After making waves as Andy in My Binondo Girl, opposite Kim Chiu, Xian is now busy filming The Reunion. Although he is working with a new leading lady, Xian is looking forward to his next project with Kim in the near future. Wanting to pursue a career in music, Xian is also trying his hand at composing in preparation for his own album. Part of the Star Magic Tour and Teleserye Bida in the US, Xian is still doing endorsement work for Mint clothing and Oro Time. More endorsements are lined up for the athlete-model turned actor this year.
