Smash Project 2012 also at Big Dome on March 8

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Dayly Entertainment is bringing in Smash Project 2012 featuring The Used, The Cab, Cobra Starship and Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carraba together with local rock bands Chicosci, Urbandub and Typecast on March 8 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Expect American rock band The Used to rock the Dome in this year’s first mini-music festival. Formed in 2001, the band rose to fame in 2002 after releasing its self-titled album. The band has sold three million records worldwide. The title of its second studio album In Love and Death was in reference to frontman Bert McCracken’s personal tragedy during the recording of the album. In Love and Death received favorable reviews with three singles Take It Away, All That I’ve Got and I Caught Fire, gaining commercial recognition.

McCracken’s bandmates are Jeph Howard (bass), Quinn Allman (guitar) and Dan Whitesides (drums).

Cobra Starship is an American synth-pop band created by lead vocalist Gabe Saporta in 2003. Cobra Starship is known for the songs Good Girls Go Bad featuring Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester and You Make Me Feel… from its Night Shades album.

Joining Saporta in the band are Ryland Backington (guitars), Alex Suarez (bass), Nate Navarro (drums) and Victoria Asher (keyboards and guitars).

The Cab, on the other hand, was proclaimed by the Alternative Press magazine as one of the “100 Bands You Need to Know in 2010.” Its self-released album Symphony Soldier was hailed by critics as a “masterpiece,” while its single Bad received positive reviews from critics and listeners alike. The band, though relatively new, already has a solid base and is continuously gaining worldwide recognition with its fresh approach to rock music.

Band members are Alexander de Leon (vocals), Alex Marshall (piano, guitar, backing vocals) and Joey Thunder (bass).

Dashboard Confessional is also an American rock band led by singer-songwriter Chris Carraba and known for the hit songs Vindicated (featured in the Spiderman 2 soundtrack), Stolen and Belle of the Boulevard. Its last album Alter the Ending showed maturity in terms of musicality and content. Fans of the band since 2000 have been following the music that Carraba has exquisitely given life. Known for his unplugged performance, Dashboard Confessional’s frontman will be gracing the stage this March to wrap up the rocking lineup.

Ticket prices are Patron Standing P4,500; Lower Box P3,500; Upper A P2,500; Upper B P1,000; and General Admission P500.
