Lovi sets new priorities

24/7 (DAY IN THE LIFE) - Bot Glorioso -

With the way Lovi Poe talks about her lovelife, it seems that she has decided to put love to the backseat and focus on her career instead.

Her name landed in the showbiz headlines the past days due to her alleged walk- out two Sundays ago on GMA 7’s Party Pilipinas. Reason: She was surprised with former flame Ronald Singson’s appearance in the show for her advance birthday celebration.

“I appreciate the gesture and I know that Ron’s intentions were good,” says Lovi who turned 23 last Feb. 11. “I was just really surprised when he suddenly turned up in my birthday celebration in Party.

Even her manager, Leo Dominguez, was clueless about it, saying, “I didn’t know, nagulat din ako that she suddenly disappeared, ’di nagpaalam sa ’kin.”

According to Lovi, it was somebody from the show’s production team who invited Ronald. “Na-shock lang talaga ako.”

But Lovi denies that they are back in each other’s arms. “I’m focused with my work because this is what really makes me happy — to do my job. There’s a sense of fulfillment every time I come home from work knowing that I was able to do my role well.”

Does it mean there’s no chance of finding a new love?

“It’s not like that. I’m not closing my doors and anything can happen. It’s just that I already know my priorities and what truly makes me happy now is my work.”

Lovi has her hands full with acting and endorsement projects these days. On cam, her character Natasha on GMA 7’s Legacy displays Lovi’s acting talent. Televiewers admire how she delivers powerful lines in her “bitchy” scenes. “I love my character because I get to play around with it. Just like a normal person, Natasha has good and bad sides. I won’t lie; we all have our (tantrum) moments, too.”

Recently, Splash Direct Sales executives formally announced Lovi as the new endorser for the Extraderm brand in a contract signing held at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel. According to Glenda Pingol, Splash Corp.’s VP and GM for direct sales, the company looked into the profiles of the hottest young stars today and found Lovi perfect for the brand which carries the tagline, In a New Light.

“We chose Lovi because she has a dynamic personality. Apart from that, she has very good skin as we are representing a personal care company,” adds Glenda.

Lovi, on the other hand, is visibly happy with the warm gesture of the Splash family. “It feels good to be the latest member of the (Splash) family. It’s not just about the product but also the people around me, mababait sila.”

Asked if she believes that skin color affects one’s beauty, Lovi replies, “You have to be comfortable with your own skin. It doesn’t matter whether you’re fair-complexioned or not, what’s important is you know how to take care of your skin, na maging makinis at may glow.”

Does love make her glow? “(Laughs) I’m happy with my work.”

Find out how Lovi gets the day done loaded with work:

“My wake-up time depends on our call time. We do tape for Legacy three times a week — Monday-Wednesday-Friday — either in Quezon City or Pampanga. So if my call time is 7 a.m., I wake up at 5:30 a.m. or 5:45 a.m. then I start fixing myself. After, I head to the location set and stay there until the following day because tapings usually last 24 hours.

As soon as the taping ends the following day and that is Tuesday, I go straight home and sleep at 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are my free days or normal days. So I’m flat by 6 or 7 a.m. and sleep, sleep, sleep until 12 noon. Sometimes, if I’m still sleepy, I get up around 2 p.m. Usually, I take breakfast or brunch in bed consisting of rice and tinapa (smoked fish) with vinegar. I just stay home during my free days or I meet my family or friends for dinner because I live with my cousins. I sleep at 2 or 3 in the morning because my body clock is not used to sleeping early.

On vacation days, I try to fix my body clock again and it’s really hard to adjust. During those times, I try to sleep early like the latest would be 10 p.m. and I wake up the next day at 9 a.m. I also love steady nights when there’s no work. Steady nights means chill-chill lang, pa-relax-relax with friends.”
