Engelbert Humperdinck: A truly classic act

MANILA, Philippines - As Engelbert Humperdinck (photo) returns to Manila for his Valentine concert series, he is out to prove that he still has it as a top-rated performer adored by fans worldwide for his love songs that have withstood the test of time.

As the iconic singer mounts the concert stage of the Smart Araneta Coliseum tonight for the grand finale of his three-night concert series that also included shows at the Cebu Waterfront Hotel & Casino and the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel, the audience can expect a truly memorable evening that bears the hallmarks of a vintage Humperdinck act. Also to be featured at concert is Filipina singer Faith Cuneta.

Titled Engelbert Humperdinck Live In Manila 2012, the special Valentine treat from Ovation Productions will showcase the British legend’s greatest hits from his successful career in music and entertainment spanning more than 40 years.

Humperdinck, dubbed as “King of Romance,” will enthrall his audience with his smooth baritone, overpowering stage presence, longish wavy hair and trademark long sideburns, endearing sense of humor and mesmerizing charisma with women.

He will relive the heyday of big ballads through songs Release Me, Quando, Quando, Quando, The Way It Used To Be, Strangers In The Night, Where Do I Begin?, After The Lovin’, Dance The Night Away, Spanish Eyes, There Goes My Everything, Am I That Easy To Forget?, and many more.

He will also demonstrate that he is more than a single-genre entertainer and is expected to perform covers of artists like Santana, Bryan Adams, Police, Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen.

Born Arnold George Dorsey, Humperdinck became a huge attraction in the ‘60s along with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Tom Jones until he was catapulted almost instantly to the status of world icon.
