Condura 'run' set for Feb. 5
MANILA, Philippines - Get those running shoes ready as the premiere running event in the country is all set to celebrate its fifth year with an all new advocacy and concept — Run for the Mangroves at midnight and across five cities.
Dubbed as the Condura Skyway Marathon (CSM) 2012: Run for the Mangroves, the annual run raises the bar once again by challenging running enthusiasts to conquer the Philippines’ first-ever midnight marathon at the Metro Manila Skyway. The event is slated on Feb. 5, with race starts and finishes at Filinvest Alabang, touted as the newest running destination in Manila.
With about 15,000 participants competing in six race categories (3k, 5k, 10k, 16k, 21k and 42k), all of them can look forward to a very unique running experience as everyone goes up the Skyway.
Marathoners get to bask in the entire stretch of the Skyway that cross five Metro Manila cities — from Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Taguig, Pasay to Makati and back. This underscores Condura Skyway Marathon’s mark as the premier running event in the country and soon in the Asia Pacific Region.
Organized by runners for runners, the sporting event puts utmost priority on the safety and security of the participants by providing well-spaced and well-stocked hydration stations, professional medical teams and seasoned race marshals. As a treat after the grueling race, the event will culminate in the Condura-Filinvest Village where runners, together with their families, can enjoy loads of entertainment, fireworks and product sampling. A mangroves wall also awaits the runners. It will be painted and decorated as a symbol of the runners’ commitment to save the Philippine mangroves.
A game-changer, the Condura Skyway Marathon has raised over P1.5M since 2008. The proceeds have been used on notable projects that protect and care for the marine environment such as the Tubbataha Reefs, the Donsol whalesharks and the Bohol dolphins.
The Condura Skyway Marathon 2012 — Run for the Mangroves is co-presented by SOMCO, Summit Water, 100Plus, Asics and FIlinvest Alabang. The event is also supported by Coors Light, QuestWorks Production, Festival Supermall and the Rotary Club of Parañaque.
