Ariel and Fred join The Sound of Music

Ariel Rivera (right, with co-star Fred Lo): ‘I’ve always wanted to be part of the musical’

MANILA, Philippines - Resorts World hosted a press conference for the launch of the new cast members of The Sound Of Music. Ariel Rivera and Fred Lo were formally introduced after a sumptuous lunch at Maxims Passion restaurant.

“I’ve always wanted to be part of The Sound Of Music and when I found out from Joanna Ampil (who plays Maria) that she was in it. I called her and she told me last November that the production has been cast,” Ariel says.

Joanna adds, “Resorts World management asked me after announcing there was going to be an extension if I could suggest anyone for the role of Capt. George Von Trap. I remembered Ariel and mentioned to them that he wanted to be part of it someday. So then they asked him and now we are happy that he is finally with us.”

Fred, who started in musical theater productions like Noah and Rent, has also done work for television for TV5’s Iskul Bukul. He is also part of Saberday.

“I’m excited to be part of The Sound Of Music, joining veteran theater actors like Audie Gemora, Leo Martinez, Ariel Rivera and West End star Joanna Ampil. It’s a dream come true because I get to play the young romantic lead Rolph where I alternate with Marvin Ong. I know I will learn a lot from joining the production,” Fred shares.
