Starting over again

Major, Major - Venus Raj -

Nobody really knows what will happen in the future except God. I respect that many subscribe to fortune telling in the hopes of preparing for the future. Of course, nobody likes unpleasant surprises. And aside from my faith’s convictions, I personally prefer uncovering what life has in store for me one small step at a time. It is this journey of discovery that develops a person’s character and develops the most meaningful experiences.

It is the time of the year when most people are torn between excitement and fear. We anticipate the opportunities that will open doors to success. And especially for those whose 2011 did not turn out so well, this is the time to start over with a clean slate and recharge your energy.

The Lord has been especially good to me in the past few years. Life has hardly been smooth-sailing. But there is nothing I will choose to change in what I have been through. Every problem has made every victory much sweeter. This is an attitude that I pray to keep and share with others as well.

There are so many memories to cherish but I look forward to new experiences this year. I hope that I can work with more people, pursue my interests and discover new ones as well. I love the unfamiliar. Exploring new things is the best way to find out who you really are as a person.

By this time, much of the euphoria surrounding New Year parties would have died down. Many people have settled back into their everyday routines, or have bravely faced the great challenge what this year has in store for them. In short, we are all back to business. It is time to put those resolutions into action (if they have not been broken already, that is). Everybody wants to do better. But there is so much hard work required to turn this into reality.

I don’t know what will happen this year. I do not even know what will happen tomorrow. But I am secured in the knowledge that God is there carefully mapping out my future. Life is full of blessings that there is no room for even the smallest bit of worry.

The joy of living lies in an unshakeable faith that rests on an all-powerful God who holds the future however uncertain it may be. As a song goes, “I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow.”

I wish everybody a most fruitful 2012. May the Lord grant our heart’s desires.
